Open Position: Postdoctoral Scholar


Postdoctoral positions are occasionally available throughout the year in the Department of Developmental and Cell Biology at the University of California, Irvine. These positions are under the sponsorship of the following faculty members:

• L. Bardwell: MAP kinase signaling in yeast and human cells; Mechanisms of specificity in signal transduction - theory and experiment;

• B. Blumberg: Intercellular signaling processes during vertebrate development, adult physiology and carcinogenesis;

• H. Bode: Evolution of developmental processes: axial patterning and stem cell differentiation in hydra;

• C. Brachmann: Developmental apoptosis in Drosophila;

• P. Bryant: Cancer genetics and asymmetric division of neural stem cells;

• S. Bryant/D. Gardiner: Functional analysis of signaling molecules in limb regeneration; and the mechanisms of environmentally induced limb abnormalities;

• K. Cho: Vertebrate embryology and stem cell differentiation;

• O. Cinquin: Developmental Biology, Biotechnology and Morphogenesis;

• P. Donovan: Stem Cell and Germ Cell Development;

• A. Edinger: regulation of cell growth and survival by growth factors (cancer biology);

• E. Lee: Mouse models of human breast cancer; BRCA/p53 and steroid hormone receptors; Biochemical functions of checkpoint genes;

• S. Gross: Biophysics and regulation of molecular motors;

• L. Huang: Proteomics/biological mass spectrometry/protein complexes/ubiquitin-proteasome degradation pathway;

• A. Lander: Systems biology of morphogenesis; Co-receptors and growth factor signaling; developmental functions of proteoglycans;

• L. Lock: Development and use of embryonic stem cells; analysis and treatment of Gaucher’s disease;

• G. MacGregor: Molecular basis of mammalian spermatogenesis;

• L. Marsh: Identifying pathogenic mechanisms of neurodegeneration; Regulation of oncogene signaling in normal and abnormal growth;

• R. Meyer: Cellular regulation of nerve regeneration in adult rodents and fish using in vitro and in vivo models;

• M. Mulligan: RNA editing in plant organelles;

• D. O'Dowd: Regulation of excitability and synaptogenesis in developing nervous systems;

• T. Schilling: Head development and neural crest in zebrafish;

• C. Suetterlin: Golgi and centrosome interactions during the cell cycle;

• R. Warrior: Genetics and cell biology of molecular motor function; growth factor signaling in Drosophila;

• T. Yi: Systems Biology of G-protein signaling.
